Specialized Treatment for Non-Healing Wounds

Most non-healing wounds – whether from trauma, infection, hospitalization, diabetes, poor circulation, surgery or other underlying health issues – heal without any problem. There are risks factors in our lives and environment, however, that can delay or stop the healing process. Wounds that fail to heal can diminish a person’s quality of life and lead to other medical problems.

The Center for Wound Healing at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center in Columbia, MD offers an approach that uses the most advanced tools for the diagnosis and treatment of non-healing wounds. Our number one goal is to help heal your wounds so you can get back to enjoying life, and our caring staff members go the extra mile to give you the best care possible. We respect every patient’s unique health needs and believe that educating patients about their condition empowers them to become actively involved in their recovery.

Evaluation and Treatment Plan

Our team of wound-care specialists, doctors, nurses, physical therapists and other medical professionals will work with your doctors to develop a treatment plan that meets your unique needs. Treatment includes education and communication. It is our goal to be your resource and advocate while you are under our care.

The Center for Wound Healing also coordinates services including diagnostic tests, durable medical equipment, dressing supplies and home care services. Consultations can be arranged with diabetes nurse educators, dieticians, orthotists, and therapists certified in manual lymph drainage and complete decongestive therapy.

Treatment Options

The Center for Wound Healing offers some of the most advanced treatments available for healing wounds, including debridements, infection control, compression therapy, patient education and preventive measures to minimize the recurrence of wounds. We take great pride in knowing and discerning the most current, effective interventions and applications for you.
