Information Blocking & 21st Century Cures Act

The 21st Century Cures Act was passed in 2016 to improve the quality and safety of healthcare by promoting EHR interoperability and information sharing.   One of the provisions of this act is assuring that patients have full and immediate access to their health information.   As a result, most EHR notes and related documentation must be shared and most lab results must be released to patients upon finalization.
