What to Expect During Your Appointment
When you come to the appointment with one of our liver disease experts, we’ll start by asking you questions about your health and performing a physical exam. The doctor will review your recent test results and might recommend further tests to examine your liver function and help confirm a suspected diagnosis. Additional tests may include:
- Imaging tests such as a CT scan, an ultrasound, MRI or noninvasive measurement of liver fibrosis
- A liver biopsy
- A comprehensive metabolic blood test to examine liver and kidney function, as well as testing blood for signs of infection or certain genetic markers
- Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography or endoscopic ultrasound
- Other tests as needed
