Michael Puchalski, MD
Cardiology - Pediatric
Dr. Puchalski is co-director of the Heart Institute and medical director of cardiology at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. He joined the hospital staff in 2020. He was previously associate director of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He also served as director of noninvasive imaging for cardiology after building the Fetal Heart Center and starting the cardiovascular MRI program. He was director of quality improvement for the Heart Center at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City and medical director of outpatient services at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Riverton, Utah.
Joyce Johnson, MD, MS
Cardiology - Pediatric
Dr. Johnson is the director of the Fetal Heart Program in the Heart Institute at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. She joined the hospital team in 2021. She was previously a pediatric cardiologist at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and an assistant professor of pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Grace Freire, MD
Cardiology - Pediatric
Dr. Freire specializes in pediatric cardiology in the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Heart Institute, evaluating and treating patients with congenital heart disease starting in the womb. She also leads the hospital’s pediatric pulmonary hypertension program, managing patients with pulmonary hypertension from different causes. She is an assistant professor of pediatrics in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Joelle Miller, MD
Cardiology - Pediatric
Dr. Miller is a pediatric cardiologist for Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She sees patients at outpatient care centers in North Port and Fort Myers. Dr. Miller earned her medical degree at the University of Florida and completed her pediatric internship at Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville. She completed a pediatrics residency at the University of Miami at Jackson Memorial Hospital, serving as co-chief resident. She also completed a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Michelle Miller, MD
Cardiology - Pediatric
Dr. Miller specializes in pediatric, fetal and adult congenital heart disease, with a particular focus in fetal medicine. She works closely with prenatal practitioners throughout the area to offer safe, well-planned pregnancies and deliveries and educates local pediatric caregivers and community hospitals in caring for children and pregnant women with cardiac issues. After completing her pediatric cardiology fellowship at UCLA, Miller became the director of fetal cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and an associate professor of medicine in the UCLA Department of Pediatrics. Having relocated to Florida in 2010, Dr. Miller is an associate professor of medicine with the Florida State University Medical School. She has published multiple scholarly articles on pediatric and fetal cardiology. Recently, Dr. Miller began cataloging the cardiac pathology library at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, a project that will make a significant contribution to education and research.
Jeremy Ramey, MD
Cardiology - Pediatric
Dr. Ramey is a general pediatric cardiologist who provides inpatient and outpatient care for children with congenital heart disease. He completed a pediatric cardiology fellowship at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, New York and Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital at New York Presbyterian, where he also served as chief pediatric cardiology fellow. He received his medical degree from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia and completed his pediatric residency at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Bristol Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Peter Sambatakos, MD
Cardiology - Pediatric
Dr. Sambatakos is a pediatric cardiologist based in Outpatient Care, Pasco, for the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Heart Institute. Previously, he spent three years as a pediatric cardiology clinical fellow and completed a clinical clerkship at the New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. He also was assistant course director for the medical student and resident elective, member of the Fellow Peer Mentorship Program and co-chaired the Fellowship Quality Improvement Project. Dr. Sambatakos completed his residency in general pediatrics at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Holtz Hospital. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine and his bachelor of arts in Chemistry and Biomedical Engineering at Tufts University where he graduated cum laude. He is a member of the Cardiovascular Disease in the Young Council, American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology.
Courtney Wein, DO
Cardiology - Pediatric
Dr. Wein specializes in pediatric and fetal cardiology at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. She sees patients primarily at the Outpatient Care location in Tampa. She joined the hospital staff in 2020. Dr. Wein earned her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania. She then completed a residency in pediatrics at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, followed by a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami with additional training in fetal echocardiography at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital in New York City. Her clinical interests include fetal cardiology, preventative medicine and neurodevelopment in children with congenital heart disease.
