Meet Our Institute for Brain Protection Sciences Leadership

George Jallo, MD

Neurosurgery

Dr. Jallo is the vice dean and physician-in-chief at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. He also is the David M. Goldenberg Family Endowed Chair in the Institute for Brain Protection Sciences and a professor of neurosurgery, pediatrics and oncology with Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Jallo joined Johns Hopkins in 2003 as an pediatric neurosurgeon. In 2013, he became the pediatric neurosurgery division director at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Jallo moved to Johns Hopkins All Children's in 2015 to launch the Institute for Brain Protection Sciences, a multidisciplinary institute that unites clinicians, researchers and educators focused on promoting optimal neurodevelopment and caring for children with injuries and illnesses that can affect the brain.

Michelle DuJardin

Senior Director, Institute Administration

Michelle DuJardin leads the administration of the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Institute for Brain Protection Sciences. She joined the team in 2016 and has more than 18 years of health care and administrative experience. DuJardin is a certified Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from the University of Central Arkansas and earned a law degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She spent much of her health care career at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where she held various leadership and administrative roles in pediatric anesthesiology and neuroscience.

Michelle DuJardin

Jessica Marchione, M.S.N., R.N., C.C.R.

Senior Director, Nursing

Jessica Marchione is the senior director of nursing for the Institute of Brain Protection Sciences. Marchione previously served as clinical manager for the Surgical Neurosciences Unit since February 2015 and in July 2018, she took on the additional role of neurodiagnostics laboratory clinical manager. Marchione joined Johns Hopkins All Children's 2008 as a PICU charge nurse and later served as PICU clinical leader and interim clinical manager on 7 North. She has served as a member of numerous patient safety, patient experience and nursing workforce initiatives. She holds a B.S.N. from Virginia Commonwealth University and M.S.N. from the University of South Florida.
