Postdoc – Cortical Circuit Development/Electrophysiology/Two photon imaging/ Behavioral analysis

The laboratory of Dr. Deemyad at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (https://www.deemyadlab.com/) is offering a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position, starting immediately, but later start dates are also possible. The focus of the lab is to explore the interactions between astrocytes and interneurons in cortical circuits during the critical period of development. This work will include manipulations of synaptic proteins in autism mouse models, two photon imaging in awake mice, and electrophysiological assays as well as high resolution microscopic reconstruction of synapses on cortical neurons and glial cells. The Deemyad Lab offers a highly collaborative environment including opportunities with other leading laboratories in this field, nationally and internationally. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to present their research at both national and international conferences, including Gordon Research Conferences and the Society for Neuroscience meetings. Also, there will be chances to apply for various internal and external funding opportunities, such as F32 and K99 grants.

Requirements: • Have completed (or within their final year of) a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, Physiology or related fields.  Experience in the following areas is highly valued: Brain Circuit Studies, Calcium Imaging or Electrophysiology, Coding in MATLAB or Python.
