Office of Medical Student Research and Scholarship

The Office of Medical Student Research and Scholarship administers the Scholarly Concentrations course, works with students to organize an annual Medical Student Research Symposium, creates and maintains a database of current and previous mentors and projects, provides stipends for summer and year-long research experiences at Johns Hopkins, provides funds for travel to present at national/international conferences, and provides awards for outstanding faculty mentorship and student scholarship.

Our Mission

The mission of the Office of Medical Student Research and Scholarship is to help Johns Hopkins medical students to identify and engage in high-quality research and scholarship opportunities.

Scholarly Concentrations

In the Scholarly Concentrations Course, students are guided by course faculty to conduct a scholarly project and prepare a presentation of that project. In doing so, they will acquire skills for self-directed learning and identify options for pursuing an academic career in medicine.
