JHEAP provides 24/7 access to free confidential counseling and referral services to employees and their household family members. Services include in person or tele-video short term counseling to provide emotional support to help manage stress at work or at home, emotional distress, a difficulty life transition or other challenges. JHEAP also provides daily life assistance: such as resources and referrals for child care and elder care, pet care and household services as well as consultation for legal and financial services.

Resources for Physical Well-Being
There are a number of facilities and resources to promote physical well-being across the Johns Hopkins campuses.
The Denton A. Cooley Center
The Cooley Center is a fitness center that caters to the Johns Hopkins Medical community. The center is located on the northwest corner of the East Baltimore campus, facing the Outpatient Building. The center features a number of group exercise classes and an outdoor pool.
9th Floor Fitness Center at the Bloomberg School of Public Health
The 9th Floor Fitness Center is located in the southwest corner of the Bloomberg School of Public Health Building and is managed by Elevation Corporate Health.
Bayview Fitness Center
View fitness classes available at the well-outfitted facility on the Bayview Medical Center campus.
Personal Trainers
Personal trainers are available at both the Cooley Center and the 9th Floor Fitness Center.
Intramural Sports at the Cooley Center
From soccer to racquetball, join an intramural sports team at the Cooley Center. All activities are held at the Cooley Center on the Basketball Court.
Johns Hopkins Climbing Wall and Bouldering Cave
The Climbing Wall and Bouldering Cave are located in the Ralph S. O’Connor Recreation Center on the Homewood campus. The Climbing Wall features 13 top rope areas and several lead climbing routes, as well as numerous features including cracks, flakes, and overhangs.

The American Medical Association offers a selection of helpful modules on physician burnout and well-being.

The National Academy of Medicine launched the Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience, a network of more than 200 organizations committed to reversing trends in clinician burnout.

This 60 min video/discussion session is designed to be used in small groups within a residency or fellowship program to encourage an open discussion about depression and suicide within the medical professions.

Three sessions focus on building resilience in trainees: (1) Introduction to Resilience and Setting Realistic Expectations; (2) Identifying and Processing Stressful Clinical Events; and (3) Gaining Gratitude.
