Historical events

Letter: Recent events rhyme with historical events

On the night of February 27, 1933, the Reichstag building of the German parliament was set on fire in an arson attack. Adolf Hitler and his Nazi government used it as a false flag operation to entrap their political opponents and suspend civil liberties. In elections held in March, the Nazis claimed that a communist revolution was imminent and that only the Nazi Party could stop it and save the country.

On January 6, 2021, the United States Capitol building was seized by 2020 election protesters. The facts surrounding their admission to the building and the events that followed are murky at best. President Joe Biden and his party used this to justify a high-profile political “trial” of the incident, raid the homes of President Donald Trump and his allies, and demonize half the county as “extremist Republicans.” MAGA”. President Biden claimed that only he and his supporters were capable of stopping them and saving the country.

History does not repeat itself, but it rhymes.
