SRINAGAR, October 21: Former Union Minister and Congress veteran Professor Saifuddin Soz said today that RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat was unaware of historical events concerning the Cashmere.
In a statement here today, Soz said: âRSS leader Mohan Bhagwat has said that a large part of Kashmiris want independence from India. Speaking recently to RSS workers in Nagpur, Bhagwat urged the people that after repealing Articles 370 and 35-A of the Indian Constitution, it was now their duty to take steps to bring Kashmir into the India. He said, however, that a large part of the population of J&K state, especially Kashmir, feels India’s independence is more desirable. Thus, he urges people to make efforts to integrate them (the Kashmiris) with the rest of the country, âadded Soz.
âBhagwat does not feel the need to speak to the people of Kashmir at all, because he thinks that the people of Kashmir raise ‘technical questions’. The people of Kashmir must now wait to see what measures RSS proposes for the integration of Kashmir with India. Bhagwat’s statement also sends the signal that the Indian government must follow what the RSS has to offer, âhe added.
âBhagwat doesn’t care about the accuracy of historical events, he urges people to come back, who were forced to leave Kashmir during the time of Sheikh Abdullah! Maybe he doesn’t know that the sheikh died on September 8, 1982, âSoz noted.
