This week marked the 107th anniversary of the Hartlepool bombing, a deadly dawn attack on December 16, 1914, which saw German naval ships open fire on the town, killing some 130 adults and children.
And the centenary of the Redheugh Gardens memorial itself was marked by the Heugh Battery Museum, with an exhibition from Friday December 17 through Sunday December 19.
Local historians attended the event on Friday and will be there again on Sunday, Saturday featuring the pageant Time Bandits giving visitors a glimpse of life at the time of the bombing.
