We collaborate with JHU-JHMI organizations, departments, faculty, and staff to enhance the research, training, wellness, and professional development of postdocs and to support their transition to successful careers in academia, industry, government, and other sectors.

2023 DuBose Postdoctoral Research Scholar Award

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine is pleased to announce that Karina Chaudhari, Ph.D., Department of Neuroscience, has been selected as the inaugural DuBose Postdoctoral Research Scholar awardee. Dr. Chaudhari’s research project is entitled ‘How the human eye detects motion: The identification and characterization of the direction-selective circuit in the primate retina.’ Her faculty PI/mentor is Dr. Alex Kolodkin.

Dr. ChaudhariDr. Chaudhari will receive a first-place prize of $25,000. The DuBose Postdoctoral Research Scholar Award is funded through a generous gift from The John and Lynne DuBose Fellowship Fund for Medical Discovery. More information about Dr. DuBose and his family can be found here.

 

Sowmya Ramesh, Ph.D.The runner-up finalist for the DuBose Postdoctoral Research Scholar award is Dr. Sowmya Ramesh, Department of Pathology. Her research project is entitled ‘Implications of NGF- TrkA signaling in altering Osteosarcoma Matrisome and Disease Progression.’ Her faculty PI/mentor Dr. Aaron James. Dr. Ramesh will receive a runner-up prize of $10,000.

Didhiti Mukherjee, Ph.D.

Didhiti Mukherjee, Ph.D., Department of Biomedical Engineering
Dr. Mukherjee received an R21 grant for 3 years from the NIH. The award is an early career research (ECR) R21 and is funded by the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders (NIDCD)

 

 

Zinia Mohanta, Ph.D.

Zinia Mohanta, Ph.D., Department of Radiology and Radiological Science
Dr. Mohanta was awarded the 2023 Career Impact Award from the JHU PHutures Office. The award recognizes individuals in the University community whose selfless contributions play a pivotal role in fostering growth and empowerment for both the institution and society at large.

 

Joscelyn Mejias, Ph.D.

Joscelyn Mejias, Ph.D., Department of Ophthalmology
Dr. Mejias was awarded the 2023 L’Oreal USA - For Women in Science (FWIS) Fellowship program. L’Oreal grants awards annually to five female postdoctoral scientists to support their research endeavors.

 

Adit Feinaj, M.D.

Adit Feinaj, M.D., Department of Oncology, Division of Genitourinary Cancer Disease 
Dr. Feinaj will be presenting his work on Peripheral blood cell counts as biomarkers of clinical benefit in patients with metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma receiving immune checkpoint inhibitor combination therapies at the ASCO Genitourinary Cancers Symposium, San Francisco, CA, January 2024.
